Our Herd
The stud was established with the purchase in 2010 of fifteen registered Lowline heifers from a number of studs, including Ardrossan, Yarra Ranges and Abaminga. These beautiful foundation females were selected for their temperament, structural correctness, and great bloodlines.
Our herd’s genetics trace back to some exceptional bulls including Ardrossan Richmond, Ardrossan Findon, Minikin Quintus, Brambletye Quartermaster and Eungella Trentham.

In 2010 five of the heifers purchased from Ardrossan Stud were depastured to the export bull Ardrossan Overcast before delivery in early 2011. The heifer calves resulting from that joining had wonderful temperaments, great length and femininity and have been retained in the herd.
The remainder of our foundation females calved (AI) to Yarra Ranges Jackaroo later that year and in early 2012. The resulting eight heifers were of the highest quality and were also retained in the herd. A bull by Jackaroo out of Abaminga Lilly was also kept. Named Tarrawarra Australis, this bull was described by OFC Judge Ross Canning as a “thick, heavy muscled bull” at 17 months and was the first bull calf by Jackaroo born in Australia. We plan to use Aussie over our Ardrossan cows in 2013.
In 2012 we used Ardrossan Jamberoo semen in our AI program. This fine bull was exported to the USA where he has been a very prodigious sire. A heifer sired by Jamberoo won the Grand Champion at the National Western Stock Show in Denver 2012 and Jamberoo's sire Neron, also sired the Grand Champion 2 years earlier. We retained a Jamberoo bull and a heifer. The bull Tarrawarra Barak is exceptional, amazing length and muscling with an outstanding growth rate, fantastic leg and feet structure and great topline and shoulder. We will use Barak over our Jackaroo heifers in 2014.
In 2012/2013 we used Ardrossan Vitriot over our spring calvers, this young bull is an Ardrossan Tiger Tim son who traces back to the extraordinary females lines of Broken Arrow Opal Nera & Ardrossan Carla. The calves by Vitriot are of the highest quality and it is hard to imagine we will be able to part with any of the heifers. One bull calf by Vitriot will be sold down the track, his growth, size and eye appeal are extraordinary.
We are continuing to diversify our bloodlines, using Ardrossan Wizard, a Vitulus Yes Yes Yes son over our Autumn calvers in 2013. This young bull won his class from a strong field in the Inaugural SRPG On Farm Challenge competition 2013. He has an exceptionally gentle temperament with great conformation and a big frame to fill. We are incredibly excited about this drop of calves due in Autumn 2014.
Our herd is nearing capacity at around 40 quality breeders and in the near future selected progeny will be available for sale each year. These animals will be of the highest standard; our best stock and we invite your to contact us for further details and look through the For Sale section on this website.
